Any further revisions in rates of goods and services already
under the ambit of GST, only follow a detailed analysis of revenue
collections instead of going through "piecemeal" changes, Adhia said.
GST
Council, in its October 6 meeting, approved a concept note with
guidelines on rate revisions that need to be followed in future. The
fitment committee will issue definite recommendations on rates based on
the approach paper, he said. "When would that happen? The approach paper
says it should be done after sometime," he added.
According to
the concept note, which has been reviewed by BlooombergQuint, the GST
Council will review items falling under the highest tax slab of 28
percent after three months with an aim to rationalise rates on goods of
mass consumption.
